Oh Land – Renaissance Girls

Looks like I’m a year behind this song release (May 20, 2013) but, please take note that I have never heard this song on the radio or the artist and I’m so glad that I “discovered” Oh Land (I’ve also been known to discover America, y’know). “Renaissance Girls” is the first single off of Oh Land’s album “Wish Bone” and I have to say, I can tell this girl’s got talent! The use of metaphors as well as similes in the song is great in breaking down the stereotypes of how men see the “ideal woman.” From what I can see based on this one song and video, she seems to dabble in the avant-garde nature of music without going over the top and I admire her not being afraid to express herself artistically in this manner. With that said, I’m hoping in future, Oh Land will make waves here in North America and receive the recognition she deserves on a larger scale. Again, take note the date that I’m writing this review in case the radio ever decides to play something other than One Direction. I’M JUST SAYIN!
