Something Entirely Different – Ellie Goulding ~ Explosions

Music analysis from Miss.Ramdini

I’m reviewing Ellie Goulding’s new single, “Explosions” before the North American radio stations ruin it by overplaying it non-stop; I’m sure that will be in roughly 6 months to a year from now. Place your bets now people 😉 I say this as her other hit song, “Lights” has only recently been getting airplay to radio stations in North America but the single has been out since early 2011 in the U.K.

AND NOW, I’ll stop being my hipster-ish self and review the song. Ellie Goulding’s voice really shines on this song mixed in with the beautiful lyrics and stunning use of violins, no wonder the song is titled “Explosions.” When I hear this song all I can think of is that she is pure talent, no commercial gimmicks or half nakedness to impress, just raw talent. I’ve had this song on repeat for a good while now and I’m hoping others will enjoy it as much as I have. Lyrically, she is a breathe of fresh air and can change the mood of anyone depending on your interpretation of the song. I also love the background singers as they give the song another worldly feel. All in all a really inspirational song, 5/5 stars for me!

If you’re a fan of Imogen Heap or Lykke Li, Ellie’s songs will tug at your heart a bit.

Side note: I seem to have a thing for artists from the U.K. Influence of BBC radio 1. Hope you enjoyed this review!
